A New Mature Metal Jailbird

Got my MM Jailbird on Wednesday and naturally put it on immediately. I bought two base rings (sizes 2” and 1 7/8”) so I began with the 2 inch one. The fit was excellent, much more comfortable than the CB6K or 3K models I own; I could hardly feel it at all. Because it was a work night, I chose not to attempt sleeping in it initially, but I put it on before heading out the next day and wore it throughout my shift. No problems whatsoever, it hides well under clothes and is significantly more comfortable (even with jeans). Eventually, I decided to try sleeping in it, reasoning that if I woke up uncomfortable, I could simply remove it. Surprisingly, I managed to sleep through the night, something I’ve rarely been able to do with plastic devices.

I showered before work on Friday and was able to clean everything nicely using a foam swab. However, by Friday morning while sitting at my desk, I began noticing a dull ache. I slipped away to the restroom and swapped in the 1 7/8” ring (which I had tried earlier; it fits well too—actually, it might fit better than the 2 inch one)—and returned to work. The minor ache was still there but didn’t seem like much of an issue at first. By Friday afternoon when I got home, however, it started feeling a bit more sore, so I decided to inspect it and see what was happening.

I removed the device and examined myself closely. I found two slightly tender spots, somewhat bruised in appearance. One was on the top of the shaft near the base (where the penis connects to the body), and the other was on the underside at the base of the shaft. The underside one had a slight skin discoloration but wasn’t painful; the pain seemed deeper inside—like the tendons connecting your penis to your body—and I’d compare it most closely to bruising, though not exactly that.

Has anyone else dealt with something similar? My theory is that perhaps the device’s weight is heavier, applying pressure to an area I’m simply unaccustomed to. I emailed MM, and they suggested extending the gap by 1/16 inch, but I suspect the issue might be elsewhere… I think the pain on top could actually stem from the base ring rather than the cage itself.

I’m a bit disappointed because it fits well and is easy to clean; aside from this one hiccup, I feel like I could wear it continuously for quite a while. Any advice or thoughts would be great!

It doesn't sound like a gap problem on its own, but even if it were, I'd give it more time. Personally, I've had more trouble with too much gap than too little. The only time insufficient gap has caused issues (for me) is that dreaded ball burn during night erections. That doesn't seem to be your case. Good luck sorting it out.

What kinds of problems have you encountered specifically due to a gap being too large?

After taking a break from any device for several days, the pain has finally subsided. I might try wearing the Jailbird tonight to see how it feels, then gradually increase my wear time again. Perhaps jumping straight into 36 continuous hours right after receiving it wasn't enough of an adjustment period.
