I developed a rash on my face. The swelling was becoming quite noticeable, particularly around one eye. Initially I suspected poison ivy, but the symptoms didn’t follow the typical pattern for it, so after a few days I decided to see a professional. It turned out not to be poison ivy. My doctor examined me and recommended getting a steroid injection among other treatments, which was fine. When the nurse came in to administer the shot, I began rolling up my sleeve. She paused and mentioned that she had to give it somewhere I might not appreciate the location. Yikes—did I mention that I am currently locked? More importantly, I received an intense paddling last Saturday, and the marks were still very visible, especially on the right cheek. Well, here I am with no choice but to comply. I suggested she use my left side instead. She instructed me to lower my shorts (leaving my underwear intact) and bend over the examination table, noting that she would pull down the undergarment when ready. As I leaned forward, I could feel and even hear a slight clink as my steelheart struck the edge of the table. Fortunately, she only lowered the left side of my underwear slightly. Any remaining marks from Saturday were either subtle or unnoticed by her. Overall it was quite uneventful, though I was anxious for those few minutes. So in conclusion (ha), not a huge ordeal, but I thought I’d share.

I had a similar near-miss once too. We were traveling about two hours from our shop to meet a prospective new client. Since I didn't arrange the meeting, I wasn't sure who or where it was until we departed. It turned out to be a high-security data center. I felt a bit of panic but had prepared a strategy that *might* have saved me. Fortunately, the facility was still under construction and none of their security scanners were operational yet, although I did end up going through them.
