Hello everyone. I’m in the middle of acquiring a new device and have a query regarding how things fit, particularly the base ring. This is crucial because I am almost certain I will save up for an extra bit to get a steel version. Unlike plastic or silicone options that usually come with multiple sizes, steel ones typically don’t, so I need this measurement to be quite accurate.
To help me decide (and keep costs down), I used one of my existing cock rings. I could have brought out my previous device, but I actually discarded it after it broke and when KH and I split…
Anyway… The ring in question was rubber with a 1.5” inner diameter. It felt quite snug, perhaps even too tight, so I went to the hardware store and purchased a 1.5” (with a 1/4th inch thickness) Welded Steel piece to compare it against rubber. I also grabbed a 2” version; if that one was overly large (which it is) while the 1.5” felt too tight, then roughly 1.75” should serve as a solid middle ground for starting off. Getting two more in step sizes up or down would be ideal.
After wearing this metal 1.5” ring for some time (about an hour… which is ages I know >_>), it seems like I might manage with something smaller. I can fit a finger (up to roughly the first knuckle) between my skin and the ring, and when sitting down, the head pulls out behind the ring boundary. Being uncut and carrying extra weight means most of the tissue stays within the ring’s perimeter.
I don’t recall ever using the smallest setting on my old CB device (I believe I attempted it but couldn’t manage), which is reportedly now equivalent to the ID of this current ring, yet this one doesn’t feel very secure. My hardware store likely carried 1.25” rings as well, so that’s an option. However, getting my testicles into this particular ring was somewhat difficult, leading me to wonder if 1.25 might be too small and whether I’ll have to tolerate some “slippage” while I continue losing weight.
So here is the question: should I go smaller? What constitutes “too tight”? Does adding a cage or switching to an oval/anatomical ring style (like those from steelworxx) significantly impact the fit?
Cheers!
Most base rings are available in increments of 1/8". You might want to test a 1 3/8" ring to see how it performs.

D'oh, it seems I accidentally edited out the part about being unsure whether they stock 1 3/8" rings when I was composing this post. I do know those sizes exist in their lineup, so if possible, I will definitely give them a try. As an aside, while wearing the 1 1/2", getting erect (deliberately...) did make it feel a bit tight and uncomfortable, perhaps even causing some purpling... Now I realize that shorter or narrower cages can "catch" an erection before it fully develops (my old CB6k did exactly this, and looking back I think the fit was TERRIBLE), but should this influence my ring size choice? If so, maybe my two initial sizes should be 1 1/2" paired with either 1 5/8" or 1 3/8". I'm thinking about wearing the 1 1/2" to bed tonight to test its endurance, but I am not certain if that is wise without a cage present lol.
