I managed to get out of my previous CBs as well, but like you mentioned, the final outcome wasn't quite what I wanted. Since neither of us were keen on piercings, we opted for a custom metal CD instead. Wearing those CB6000s was really useful in dialing in the right fit for my MM JB. Once I adjusted the base ring size appropriately, removing the back has become nearly foolproof.
