I’d lean towards nickel rather than lead if you have an allergy to it. The most common irritation actually comes from the presence of the device itself and how it rubs against your skin. Any bumps or flakes that break off can be quite annoying for the delicate genital area. Try sanding down and polishing any rough edges (a Dremel works well) on the unit. Also, allow yourself some adjustment time. Take a rest as soon as you feel any discomfort. Using lubricant helps too; there are plenty of discussions about this here. -K

For long-term use, I’d look into getting a second piece. In the short term, follow kpb57’s advice and clean/sand/polish it up. Then apply fingernail polish over the contact areas. It will wear off eventually, so check regularly. This creates a barrier between your skin and the metal.
