UK Delivery and First Impressions of the MM Jail Bird with Customs Costs

Our Jail Bird, sent from MM on February 4th has finally arrived in the UK. The delivery took 18 days, with most of the delay happening here domestically. My wife and I were eagerly awaiting the postman’s knock when it came (I was a bit nervous). In fact, he brought a card asking for £16.99 Customs Duty to be paid before we could release and collect the package at the post office. So apparently you can’t even lock up your husband without paying a ransom to greedy government officials. Anyway, I put on the new device this morning and our first impressions are positive. My wife likes how it looks and says it feels very comfortable so far. The workmanship from MM is certainly top-notch. MM did get one thing wrong, though – we discussed with them welding the locking post to the top of the main ring, but I ultimately decided on a regular fixing and made that clear to them. However, they went ahead and fixed the post to the top of the ring anyway. It might work well – only time will tell. I’m really happy that my idea of cutting away the bottom horizontal ring on the cage and welding it at the center works perfectly; my 5mm PA now hangs beautifully through the gap I created. I’ll take some photos to show everyone what modifications were made… once I get permission to remove the device, which is a challenge since my wife already seems to think that now I’m in the Jail Bird, I can stay there. I’ve pointed out it might need a bit of getting used to. She just raised her eyebrows and said: “Hmm”.
