The smaller foundation ring causes pain

I’ve been wearing a Jail Bird for roughly twelve months. I noticed the base ring, which is 1 3/4 inches wide, felt a little loose; more than just a fingertip could slip underneath it. Consequently, I bought rings in sizes 1 5/8 and 1 1/2 inches. They arrived after a few days. Last Thursday, when I got locked up again, we used the 1 5/8 inch ring. It felt snug but not painful.

I wore that size over the weekend and through yesterday. Sitting down caused some pinching, requiring frequent adjustments, and it even hurt slightly while lying in bed. However, there was no discomfort during an attempted erection. Last night, I unlocked myself so Mrs. Lion could bring me to orgasm (I redeemed one of her Love Coupons for my birthday). Afterward, a red line remained where the new base ring sat, along with some red spots from the pinching. For now, we’ve switched back to the 1 3/4 inch base ring.

My conclusion is that the discomfort came from the smaller ring’s lack of movement. The larger ring can rotate slightly with my body and shift forward or backward a bit, which apparently prevents irritation. I believe this logic applies broadly: many people in plastic cages need lube because friction between the skin and the base ring stops those small movements needed to avoid pain.

The smaller ring fit correctly regarding circulation, and erections didn’t hurt. Still, it was irritating. The larger ring stays put well enough, just not as tightly as the smaller one. Urination felt much more secure with the smaller ring because my urethra stayed anchored dead center in the opening. Mrs. Lion suggested that maybe being uncaged for ten days altered things slightly, and after wearing the larger ring for a few more days, I might be able to return to it.

I’m not worried about security. If motivated enough, I could pull out of either ring, though both would hurt in doing so. The smaller one would present a greater challenge. But since I wouldn’t try to escape anyway, security is just theoretical for me.

I want to give the smaller ring another go. I like how firmly it holds things, but perhaps what makes it effective is exactly what causes the pain. Mrs. Lion and I agree that comfort matters most. I have to wear a cage full-time until at least March 2016, and we currently plan to continue beyond then. So, I’d better wear something that does its job without causing pain.

I get your point. Even the same ring can feel different depending on how loose or tight my scrotum is when I put it on. The last time I went down a size from 1 7/8 inches to 1 3/4 inches, I had a similar experience. I liked the security but found it uncomfortable at times, eventually asking to be unlocked. In the end, I sent the 1 3/4 inch ring back and had MM stretch it by about 1/16 inch to an intermediate size of 1 13/16 inches. Believe it or not, that small change made a huge difference. When I recently bought a new JB, I asked for the base ring in 1 13/16 inches, and it fits perfectly. That said, I can definitely tell if my weight shifts by a few pounds or if there’s a big change in outside temperature.
