Contender Ordered

I’ve been using a Jailbird for several years. Belle and I mostly stopped wearing it because the comfort wasn’t great. I definitely need a smaller base ring, and a smaller cage would be helpful too. Rather than paying to have mine reworked, I decided to try out the Contender.

I took some measurements over the last few days, which varied within these ranges: Length: 2.5”-3.25” Diameter: 1.27”-1.35”

My Jailbird ring is 1 7/8”, and I can easily fit at least two fingers under it while wearing it. This allows for some rotation, but the cage ends up pulling down quite a bit. My current cage measures 2.25” long (excluding the gap and ring).

So here’s what I ended up ordering: Length: 2 1/2” Cage ring: 1 3/8” Base ring: 1 5/8” round, with the post on the outside of the ring rather than mounted flush. I went with the standard padlock hole option.

Hopefully this gives me a better fit and makes wearing it more pleasant. I suppose I’ll know soon enough. Getting measurements right is definitely nerve-wracking.

Good luck. We’re looking forward to your wearing report. You didn’t mention subtracting .25-.5 inch for the distance of the cage from your body, but given your experience I’m sure you considered it. Just wanted to bring it up though. Please post some pictures when the new device arrives.

Someone correct me if I’m mistaken, but doesn’t MCN factor that into his devices? Maybe I just assumed he did since he asks for your measurements rather than how long you want the cage to be. I recall reading somewhere that the measurement you provide accounts for the gap and ring dimensions.
