The issue for me is that I’m a severe shrinker, so sometimes the 4.5cm length isn’t quite enough to hold everything back completely. I’ve been looking into very short cages and thinking this might be where things are heading.

So far, I’ve completed two wear periods: 24 hours and then four nights.

Beyond the obvious change in length, there are two other key differences. First is the lock; it uses a screw with an altered allen-key socket, meaning regular keys won’t fit. Second, the base ring is thinner and feels less ergonomic than what I’m accustomed to.

My initial thoughts are mixed. *The ring takes some getting used to since it’s different. It has improved over these past few nights, so I don’t expect a long-term issue. But it does feel like starting from zero again. *Nighttime erections stopped bothering me ages ago, but they’ve come back with this one. Likely just temporary adaptation. The space between the ring and cage is tighter than my previous setup. It’s a new level of tightness, though I haven’t worried about slipping out at all, which is reassuring. *Even though the length difference is only 1.5cm, it feels significantly shorter to me; I’m constantly filling up the space inside.

First downside: because the cage is short, it settles halfway into my scrotum. This causes urine to drip onto my testicles when urinating, requiring more cleaning. Second downside: linked to that first point, having everything packed tighter makes cleaning while wearing the device (which is how I prefer) harder. Even cotton buds are tricky to use.[/list]

I plan to continue because I’d like to get comfortable with a very short cage for extended periods. As mentioned, much of it is just my body adjusting to these new shapes and sizes (no purple or black discoloration yet, which is good:-) ). My partner likes how I look in it too; she plans to swap out our cages during Locktober so that I don’t endure the adjustment period alone.

I was generally pleased with my first custom piece from Mature Metal, but always felt the dimensions could be tweaked a bit. By "tweaked", I mean 1/8” here and 1/4” there .... getting smaller. Last year, I went ahead and ordered that slightly more compact version. The difference on my body was quite noticeable. My nighttime erections became twice as intense; yes, they woke me up more frequently and took longer to subside. Also, jumping straight into long-term wear wasn't immediate. I definitely needed time for new calluses to form. It surprised me that a cage with the same shape and design could feel so different just by being slightly reduced in size. Best of luck, take your patience ... it was worth it in the end.
