Downsizing to a Smaller Cage

*A bit of history: One day when I was feeling frisky, I bought an inexpensive plastic cage from China. The quality wasn’t great, but it caught my interest and I went ahead with a Holy Trainer.

Now I have the Holy Trainer V4 in standard size. Initially, fitting into it was a challenge for me, but gradually I realized there’s still some room inside; sometimes my head rests in the shaft rather than settling fully back.

I’ve heard that many people find small cages comfortable because they leave no spare space. The usual downside is cleaning difficulty, which isn’t really an issue for me, so I see few drawbacks. I’m considering a smaller cage now. However, I doubt the “Small” size will be tiny enough; I likely need the “Nub” size, though I am not entirely certain.

Since I couldn’t find much info on this specific topic, what advice can you offer? Should I jump straight to the “Nub” size or is it wiser to go step-by-step? It’s a bit of an investment for me right now, so I’d prefer not to waste money buying another cage that might end up too large.

I can't speak definitively on fitment, but I believe my Jailbird is about as close to ideal as it gets. It feels comfortable enough that I’m surprised by how well I manage to get myself inside; it does require some effort.
