Swapping Out the CB-2000

My CB-2000 gave out. One side of the cage’s end snapped off right at the weld joint. Given how long I’ve used it, this isn’t really a shock. I stuck with the CB-2000 for two main reasons. First was its openness, which matters greatly for hygiene because I never had to take it out just to bathe. The second reason is passing through metal detectors; I can’t have any metallic items on my person and must rely on plastic padlocks. What’s a suitable swap? I’ve spotted CB-6000 models. They match the length of the CB-2000, though 2.5 inches might actually be slightly too long for me since I usually hung with about a quarter-inch gap from the cage end. I’ve also noticed shorter cages on the market and doubt I’d feel comfortable in anything under two inches. Many plastic cages feature internal metal locks now, but I suspect those metals will trigger detectors. Since I can’t use any device containing metal, it needs to be non-metallic, between 2 and 2.5 inches long, and as open as possible. Which one fits these specs?

Al Enterprises (now known as CBX) offered a shorter version called the CB6000 that might suit you. However, if you prefer an open, cagier design, you should look at some of the 3D printed models currently available. Rather than using a barrel lick, you could likely insert a 6mm or 1/4" nylon screw and drill a hole near the far end to hold a plastic tag.
