I’ve spent some time experimenting with it and realized the issue isn’t really the ring’s dimensions for my CB-6000S, but rather those tiny locking pins. I have a CB-2000 kit that comes with longer pins; after measuring them, I found their circumference is 5 mm. The standard pins on the CB-6000S aren’t perfectly round. So, if I can borrow my dad’s drill, I should be able to enlarge the holes in the CB-6000S enough for the CB-2000 pins.

The catch is getting him to lend me his drill without figuring out why… Also! Does anyone have advice or experience with this?

Those vintage locking pins measure about 1/4" (a touch over 6mm). The pins on the 6000 are roughly 3/16" across the narrow part and just a bit larger than 1/4" at the wider end. If he has various drill bits, pick one that fits snugly in the flange hole and drill through slowly. Gently wiggle the bit to widen the opening gradually. Move up to the next size, then another, until you reach the 1/4" bit. Once drilled with the 1/4", test how the older pin sits, but avoid wiggling it further since you don't want the hole too big. All my devices are set up to accept both types. It won't take more than ten minutes.

It'll be amusing when Tom gets a call from his son later this week asking to borrow his power drill. -A
