Hi there. I’m thinking about buying a Steelworxx, but after reading some of Thumper’s thoughts, I feel like I could use a bit more guidance before placing the order.

My history with chastity devices has mostly been centered around the CB2000… and one attempt at the CB6000. Back then it was largely about cost, but now we’re really looking to upgrade. It’s not always straightforward when you try to size a Steelworxx while using your experience with a CB2000 as a baseline.

Here is my history with the CBs: CB6000 - I couldn’t manage to get inside it. My shape tapers (as most people do), going from thicker at the base down toward the head. With some lube, I only got about halfway in and couldn’t push any further. Even trying to force it with a tool didn’t help; it was just too much. Plus, the ring felt overly tight. CB2000 - This one fits me well inside the cage. I measured the B ring at the opening of the cage, and mine is 1 9/16” (which works out to about 1.5625”). With a bit of lube, it slides on easily with just a few twists. It sits flush against my entire circumference without being painful or too tight. When I am nearly fully flaccid, the ring fills up that opening nicely.

So here is what I need to figure out: should I size down slightly for the Steelworxx to 38mm? Or go a step up to 44mm? If the tube maintains that same diameter all the way through, I worry about whether my glans could even get erect in the 38mm. It would feel completely full pretty much constantly.

Question number two concerns the A ring. The ring currently on (and used with) my CB2000 is a 1 3/4” size. Because it was bothering me, I took a Dremel tool to smooth out its edges. Now it measures somewhere between 1 3/4” and 1 7/8”, so let’s call it roughly 1 13/16”, or about 46mm.

It sits snugly enough that I can pull it off if I am well-lubed and wearing nothing else. Thumper mentioned going down one size when switching from plastic CBs to Steelworxx because of how the steel interacts with your body. So, moving to a 45mm seems plausible. I have considered the 42mm option too, but it feels like it might be pushing it. Since I am definitely more of a “grower” than a “shower,” and above-average thickness, even my current ring can cause pain when fully erect—it gets intensely burning around the edges while everything becomes very veiny and dark. Is 45mm sufficient? My main goal is security. Not because I’m trying to escape, but simply because I am active and have had devices pop out before.

Sorry for the essay format; better to provide plenty of detail than leave things out. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have found that my experience mirrors Thumper's: I switched to a smaller steel ring compared to the plastic one. The Steelworxx actually has an even slightly narrower diameter than the Jailbird, so it might be possible for you to go down further still. This likely comes down to the fact that the Steelworxx ring is crafted from a thicker rod. The difference between 42mm and 45mm seems minor on paper but makes a noticeable practical impact. If you ask Dietmar directly, he can probably fabricate one in 46mm if needed; personally, mine was made for him at 44mm. Regarding the tube size advice: if it is too small, you will be quite stuck and unable to use it effectively. I would recommend consulting with Dietmar again about whether a different dimension suits your anatomy better. He customized my device with non-standard measurements for both diameter and length. While his options for tube diameter might be more restricted compared to other customizers, he may still have flexibility. -A
