It’s odd, yet my spouse and I struggle to settle on a name for my apparatus that suits us both equally. “Device” feels too plain and clinical. She objects to the word “cage,” not because she dislikes cages generally, but because it doesn’t visually represent what it is to her; in her view, it resembles armor—sturdy steel meant for protection—but that term lacks personal significance for me as it implies possession rather than just structure. Using its technical model name feels silly. Ms Amanda refers to my CB3000s affectionately as a “thingy,” which I find amusing and perfect. I’d love to know what everyone else calls theirs.
