After going through numerous threads here and elsewhere, I’ve reshaped the ring on my device (visible in my avatar) into an oval.

My brief experience with this cage suggests that while a 45mm ring works fine during the day, it is incredibly tight during nighttime erections. It gets so snug that I wake up feeling bruised, with some odd swelling and darkened testicles.

The 50mm ring created a gap that was too wide relative to the cage body—causing my left ball to occasionally get pinched between the ring and cage (quite painful) or slip through entirely. This made the setup difficult to wear during work hours; you don’t want to be clutching your balls in public before heading home for the key. Conversely, nighttime erections were less severe, and wearing the ring like a cock ring during intense play sessions was much more bearable.

The oval shape seemed like a good solution. It narrows the lower part of the gap beneath the cage while widening it slightly on the sides. Ideally, this prevents balls from slipping through while offering a bit more room where the plumbing felt cramped in the scrotum. I had the ring made oval, and so far results look promising—I’m wearing it now without any ball pinching!

Here is what I did:

  • Assembled the cage with the 50mm ring and locked it on.
  • Submerged the device’s cage ring in a pan of boiling water (about two centimeters deep) to heat it. (Not sure if this step was crucial.)
  • Padded a small/medium vise with old towels to protect the finish.
  • Used a hot pad to move the device into the vise. The cage cooled quickly enough to handle almost immediately.
  • Positioned the device in the vise so that the lock post aligned with one pressure point, but sat below the cage attachment area. I left the cage on during this process just in case deformation shifted the pinholes—the pins moved along with it, which seems like a good call.
  • The ring is made of very hard metal. To compress it, I had to hammer the vise crank handle.
  • Used the 45mm ring as a reference guide. I kept placing it under the ring in the vise and comparing until the top and bottom points (the narrow part of the oval) matched the 45mm diameter. Once satisfied, I left it clamped in the vise for 30 minutes to see if it would spring back toward round.

Result: The ring emerged from the vise shaped into an oval, measuring about 45mm at its narrowest point. It appears the ring might not be solid all the way around but is welded just below where the lock post attaches. This weld cracked slightly during modification.

A question for anyone with metalworking knowledge: I probably should seal that crack in the weld to prevent rust from setting in. I’m considering JB Weld—a product I haven’t used before. Any suggestions are welcome.

I’ll share another update on how well my modified device wears once I have more data.
