Site announcements and information discussion

Every time I open a discussion, it drops me at the most recent entry. If there are five pages of new content that I haven’t read yet, starting at the bottom is frustrating; I have to click backward to get to the start. There doesn’t seem to be an option to make it default to the first (oldest) post instead. Is there a setting I’m overlooking?
