I didn’t share it (naturally enough, given it’s written from a mistress’s perspective), but I thought the following reddit discussions were quite engaging. What really stands out to me is that the writer reached an insight regarding equity.

By carrying out a disproportionate task (“all the chores”) under my direction and without grumbling, he was showing his submission. To reduce that imbalance on my part would have been exactly contrary to what I ought to do.

For me, the core of the FLR dynamics in our relationship is their lack of balance. It feels unfair that I must provide her with a sixty-minute massage nearly every evening, often without much regard for how weary I am. It seems unjust that she drives around in a new vehicle while I stick to my aging clunker. Yet, this wasn’t any more balanced back in the 1950s regarding traditional treatment of women. By embracing our way of life, I reap substantial rewards from her happiness and joy, which is sufficient for me.
