I was sitting at my home desk on Friday afternoon, trying to come up with content for my vanilla blog while chatting online with lockit.
I had a terrible hangover and he wasn’t quite himself either. We were talking about whether his doctors would be open during the Easter holiday break. I decided to take it easy with a warm bath and a nap.
A few hours passed, then I came back downstairs and checked in with lockit. He’d decided he needed to go to A&E. Naturally, I called him; he sounded awful. We agreed that going to the hospital was the right move and should happen soon. That was around 4pm.
By 6:30pm, I knew he had been admitted for tests. By 8:30pm, he phoned again and told me he’d been diagnosed with pneumonia and would stay overnight in the hospital.
We all know how this goes. I booked a train ticket and headed down to see him.
At 7am, I was standing at the station ready for my trip to London. We texted during the journey so I knew he was planning to leave that day.
I arrived in London at 1pm and made my way toward the hospital. Between taking the underground and catching a bus, I got the message that he was being discharged from his current hospital, which meant I had to switch buses and go to his new location instead.
Once we met up after getting off the bus, the short 500-yard walk back to his place was painful for him; every step brought stabbing pain.
I got him home and gave him some painkillers. He is now recovering slowly while I take on the role of nurse. He says I’m a mix of Florence Nightingale and Nurse Ratchett.
I bet he’s really glad I let him unlock for the night before he went to the hospital. IP Address: Logged
