I am fond of checklists. They let me see precisely what she expects each time I tidy up the house. Crossing items off also gives me a good feeling of achievement. What she dislikes is having to write out a list every single day, after all, isn’t this supposed to simplify her life? Well, there must be an app for that, right??? Naturally, there is. After doing some research, I found one that suits us perfectly. We each have usernames in the “Family” section. She holds the primary account. This allows her to add items easily. She can schedule them on a recurring cycle, such as sweeping the kitchen on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; vacuuming the living room on Tuesdays; and changing the furnace filter on the 1st of the month, etc… When I check it on my mobile device, it displays what I need to do that day in an app-based list format. Once finished, I tap the check mark next to the task to indicate completion. It sends her a notification confirming I have been working (you can disable this feature). If I miss a chore for the day, it turns red to show it is overdue. Here are other cool features… you can assign point values to each chore. If they aren’t completed on schedule, the main user can set up a penalty where points decrease until the task is done. You accumulate these points toward a reward that she determines… I am sure everyone sees where this is heading. The software developers likely had movies and ice cream cones in mind when designing it. But… Your key holder might require you to earn enough points before granting release. The app we use is completely free too… I would love to hear if anyone else already uses this or tries it out to see if it works for them.
