How do submissive men deal with confessing their mistakes to the woman who holds the key? Do you speak plainly, or do you occasionally sidestep taking responsibility? Do you sometimes act up or fall short of expectations deliberately, waiting for a harsher reaction? I strive for truthfulness and keep my failures in conformity from being hidden. Furthermore, I pick words that let my wife interpret things strictly. Take this morning as an example: I shattered something in the kitchen. Rather than claiming “it was accidental,” I stated “my carelessness caused it.” This leaves her room to choose between kindness or punishment based on how she feels. Yet, I do not botch things intentionally. There is one exception regarding tone and attitude. Occasionally, my wife decides that I came across as sarcastic, pushy, or just generally unpleasant. When I feel the accusation is unjust, I will defend myself with righteous indignation. My defense is genuine, but it only seems to anger her more, leading to a heavier cane stroke. However, I do not argue for that reason; it happens spontaneously. Eager to learn how others handle this.
