Think about it: did men really hold that much control back in the day?
Sex: It usually happens when she says so and how she wants it. Chastity is just another layer; the cage itself is merely an instrument. The core message is simple: stop touching yourself and pay attention.
Money: Even if you have your own bank account and handle all the bills, try bringing home a new item without asking first—you’ll get questioned and side-eyed.
Decisions: We generally hold the remote control for most things, keeping our clutter in one room to claim it as a man cave. But for anything else, checking with her is mandatory.
Her priorities always come first; they just tend to slip down the list if no one enforces them.
Everything else seems to be either kinks or reinforcement methods. Paddling? It works, and she loves feeling empowered by it, but she could live without it. Still, it helps me get into the right headspace, and I enjoy seeing her actively engaged in this dynamic enough to administer discipline.
Dressing a certain way, pegging, cleaning up… these are all tools used to reinforce an attitude.
So isn’t living in an FLR really just accepting what we were meant to be doing anyway, while adding the necessary tools? I can heartily disagree when thinking of 1950s-style marriages, but look at today’s world. When was the last time you truly felt in control within a relationship? Where do we eat, who do (or don’t) visit, what are our vacation plans, when does intimacy happen or not… It seems this lifestyle is just us calling it like it is and doing what helps us accept things and react properly.
The human slave dynamic is different. The urge to surrender all decisions and opinions, eagerly accepting …anything, feels outside the usual FLR scope. Being a yes-man or minion who constantly agrees feels somewhat sterile. Honestly, I hope my views are respected and enjoyed by her. They might not always be followed, but they should matter.
So is the FLR discussed here mostly just a standard relationship with some added kinks for reinforcement, or do traditional roles remain vibrant? I know America leans slightly less traditional than other nations regarding social norms.
