Site announcements and information discussion

As of right now, the For Sale/Wanted section holds 1,346 threads. A lot of these items show up as sold but haven’t been shifted to the SOLD area, or their status was never changed and the original poster has since gone inactive. This makes navigating the subforum harder than it needs to be.

There are several ways to fix this, but if we can do it with minimal ongoing effort from moderators, that would be ideal. I propose automatically expiring threads after a set period of inactivity. I’m leaning toward three months, though the exact timeframe isn’t critical. If an item is still available, it’s fair to expect the seller to bump their thread now and then.

If automatic expiration proves too difficult or impractical, my next suggestion is to remove all threads that haven’t had a post in 2018. From there, identifying which items have already sold or were posted by inactive users becomes much more manageable.

The same approach could likely work for the Seeking Or Soliciting subforum as well, although those can be a bit broader in scope.
