That is precisely what makes alternative lifestyles so appealing! They stand apart. There are actually so many of them that they showcase the chaotic yet creative nature of people and their minds. I use ‘cacophony’ because it captures well the often intense energy within a person that shapes who they become. Loud and clear inside our respective brains, this drive to be oneself is powerful and rarely simple to rationalize. So, isn’t it no surprise that when these strong and sometimes divergent energies meet, robust debate follows?

What I’ve seen over my years in the world we call kink includes judgment, prejudice, shaming, and a pompousness that would make vanilla governments legislate against.

I have also witnessed the rise of the ‘F’ word (check site rules). However, what bothers me is how it’s wielded like a blunt tool to attack specific kink dynamics. Yes, there is a dark side to the ‘F’ word, but in the kink world, that applies to many activities too. Yet, oh how outrage erupts when someone posts a wishlist or enjoys offered gifts! And the vitriol doubles down if it’s a woman doing so. I’m not sure such wrath is summoned with equal force when a man does the same.

So why place this under FLR? Well, in many FLRs, finances are one of the major TPE components—a huge one indeed. FLR couples are now embracing that ultimate taboo; money power! Like so much else, there’s danger out there, but tell me any relationship without risk factors.

Thus, on your various journeys, whether you’re just swapping chores or handing over financial control, or sending a gift to a dominant partner, remember: we are alternative. Happy dynamics everyone;)
