If you mentioned to your vanilla friends that you’re in a D/s dynamic with your partner, they’d likely picture an unequal setup. Do you agree with that assumption, or do you feel you are equals? If the latter, how would you justify being equal within what looks like an unequal bond?

For me, it isn’t about equality. It’s about having the kind of partnership we both want. If it matches our desires and we seek similar arrangements, that matters more than who serves whom or whether one is a master and the other a servant.

It’s a symbiotic bond. Each gives what the other requires. One wants to wield full control; the other longs to submit. Yet underlying it all is a connection—written or implied—that essentially says I trust you, and you belong to me. I see us as equals because my submission is chosen. I wouldn’t offer this up for just anyone.

When considering "equality" in any guise—race, gender, politics, or within FLR and D/s dynamics—we are all equal! It’s just that some possess a higher degree of equality!!! These aren’t my own words, by the way! I can’t recall who first said it, but I find them spot on!
