I’m curious if anyone here knows whether a PA lock might cause metal contamination to the skin. I’ve noticed that several locks, which in my view are all made in China, are described as titanium while others don’t specify their material at all. In my opinion, stainless steel is traditionally the best choice for avoiding this issue. The typical urine pH sits around 6.0, though it can vary between 4.5 and 8.0. When the value drops below 5.0, the urine becomes acidic; above 8.0, it turns alkaline. Although these levels don’t seem high enough to corrode materials like titanium, you only need to look at a men’s restroom divider stall to see evidence of corrosion from urine. Also, items manufactured in China aren’t always trustworthy regarding their listed materials. I’d value any insights or information anyone can share.
