It’s time to start planning for this year’s Fall Gathering!!! I realize I’m posting a bit early, but doing so gives everyone who needs to save vacation days, make arrangements, or set aside funds plenty of notice! Those who have been to Gatherings before know the drill, but I’ll outline some key details for those new to it. The dates are NOVEMBER 5th through 8th. We kick off at 2pm on Friday the 5th and wrap up by noon on Monday the 8th. Like previous years, we’re back here at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. I plan to rent a house on the lake again—hopefully the same one as before, though houses around there sell pretty frequently so it’s not guaranteed. That particular house has a septic system limit of 15 people. If enough folks send their deposits my way, I’ll rent two houses or however many are needed based on interest levels. There is also a lodge-style home nearby that holds about 25 people; I will sort out the details as they arise depending on numbers and deposits. As always, lodging, all meals, drinks, bottled water, snacks, and plenty of fun are included in the price. LOL, did I say ‘whippins’? What I meant was fun—pure enjoyment! You need to bring your own toiletries, bed linens, and any alcohol you want (rachel isn’t allowed any). We can hash out finer details like meal specifics and linen sizes as we get closer to the date. The Gathering has always cost $200 per person. I hope to keep it there with no reason for a hike, though interest levels play a part. A non-refundable deposit of $100 per person is due by September 1st, with the balance paid by October 31st. Getting your deposit in early helps secure your spot so you aren’t left on the bubble if I need to rent a second house because not enough people committed. If that happens and there isn’t room, your deposit will be refunded. At least 10 spots are already taken! Let’s keep moving forward. The sooner I know exactly how many are coming, the sooner I can finalize housing arrangements. I’m excited, just like past guests were.
