Over the years, people have occasionally mentioned how pretty I looked. Not often, mind you, but I remember every instance clearly. As someone who cares quite a bit about her appearance, those casual remarks can brighten my entire week, or even month. If this isn’t already part of your routine, I think you’d find it worthwhile to try.
From our chat last night, it seems men need considerable bravery to offer such compliments. The fear is largely irrational, and with a bit of effort, you can get past it. Please ensure that: 1/ Your remark is “in passing”—don’t corner her in a bar or loiter waiting for an answer. 2/ You pick out a complete stranger who has clearly put in the effort to look good. 3/ Make sure she isn’t with a man likely to take offense. 4/ Don’t be timid. 5/ Aim to do it once a month.
It’s a gift for her that she’ll value, and it costs you nothing. (And no, it doesn’t mean “Creepy”) Feel free to share your stories below; they might encourage others here as well. That’s all. Thank you, Amanda
