I’ve worn a PA-5000 for almost a year now. Not non-stop, but nearly around the clock with occasional breaks for cleaning and special treats. It’s easily the most comfortable and sustainable device I’ve tested. The only catch is that they seem to break every few months—or even weeks. I’ve fallen into a routine of claiming free warranty replacements each time while purchasing from, which brings the cost down to roughly $40 per unit. That makes it an affordable ongoing expense, though somewhat excessive. They always tend to fail during removal; the lock becomes stiff and if you pull too hard, it cracks. I suspect urine deposits accumulate inside the mechanism regardless of how much I wash and rinse it, clogging its movement. Does anyone have advice on preventing this? Would lubricating help? With what kind of product? Is there a way to clear out those deposits without damaging the lock? Maybe soaking it occasionally would do the trick?
