Let me clarify this post by introducing some of the younger members, myself included, to Margaret Mead’s work. She was a controversial academic anthropologist whose reports on the supposedly healthy sexual attitudes in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures helped inform the 1960s sexual revolution. Mead championed broader sexual mores within traditional Western religious life.

One of her most influential works is the book Sex and Temperament in Three Primitive Societies. It became a major cornerstone for the women’s liberation movement because it argued that females are dominant in the Tchambuli (now Chambri) Lake region of the Sepik basin in Papua New Guinea without causing special problems or social dysfunctions.

My view is this: with the internet and easy access to information retrieval tools like Google, it’s very simple to research D/S and BDSM (I separate these two functions).

We all start our awakening journey. I assume most people go online, research the subject, and either stumble upon or head toward the acronyms and features of the female-led world. I do blame porn for the lack of understanding regarding female dominance; wearing PVC and rubber while wielding a whip isn’t necessarily a 24/7 activity, but that’s often the first view men get when we approach things from a sexual perspective.

Moving on, as ‘we’ (both male and female) delve deeper into ‘our world’, we try to conform to what we think a ‘good dominant’ should be and do. WHERE IS THE FEMALE DOMINANCE and Freedom of choice here?

To me, I see a pattern of one-upmanship where each person tries to outdo the other: can take a bigger strap-on, can be more sissy than the next person, stays locked up longer, etc.

SO what are we all trying to achieve? Where are we going? What is the ultimate goal here? How do we want to get there?

I have some questions for the doms (and let’s have honesty, especially those who have chatted with me on MSN and Yahoo).

  1. Do women really want a docile slave that will do whatever they command without resistance or fight?
  2. Where are you getting your ideas and structure from? Is it books like Elise Sutton’s, forums, or self-generated?
  3. Is the feminization of a male really an expression of a woman’s bi-sexuality?
  4. Do you miss the traditional ‘alpha male stereotype’ sexually, and if so, do you think you can get that back with your partner?
  5. If you are a cuckold, are you totally free of guilt? And for married cuckolds, did breaking the vow feel worth it?
  6. What are your inspirations and role models from a femdom perspective?
  7. Do you feel like you’re following protocol rather than using your imagination?
  8. Is ‘coming out’ as submissive hard for men in ways similar to coming out in traditional homosexuality situations?

I await the replies!
