Nobody here has a car. I have one, and it is the most useful thing about me

In this city almost nobody has a car, I have one, and it turns out to be the single most useful thing about me. The airport at five in the morning. The hardware run. Moving a chair from her sister's place. The trip out to sit with somebody in a hospital an hour away when the trains would take three.

Forty eight, north Jersey, I do fleet maintenance, my hours are steady and my weekends are genuinely mine. Divorced, one son away at college.

I know that being on this side of the water is a disadvantage on a board like this and I am not going to argue with it. What I would say is that the disadvantage reverses the moment anything needs carrying. I am forty minutes from most places at the hours when everybody else is asleep.

What I want is a service arrangement with a woman who leads, and I mean service rather than an errand list with an exciting label on it. Being given a task and a standard and being held to both. Being the person she does not have to think about twice.

Nothing is paid, including gas, and I state that because it is the first thing people offer and it changes the entire nature of what I am asking for. Not looking to be anybody's emergency contact after two weeks. Not looking for something that only exists when a car is needed. Not looking for a woman who will find the drive romantic for a month and then stop replying, which has happened twice.
